Summer Activites in Vancouver

The Victoria Day long weekend marks the official beginning of the summer season across Canada. Though it may not be time for shorts and sandals yet, seasonal attractions oriented around warmer weather typically open this weekend and stay open until Labour Day in the first week of September. Here are three of our Vancouver favourites:

Night Market
Chinatown’s Night Market runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Here you’ll find plenty of interesting booths selling everything from fashion and electronic to art and mouth-watering street food. On most evenings there is some sort of cultural entertainment. Check here for the schedule and for directions. If you enjoy Vancouver’s Night market you may also want to visit the Richmond Night Market.

Farmer’s Markets
Vancouver hosts farmers markets in parks across the city full of seasonal produce that is fresh and local. The markets also showcase local artisans, entertainment and educational exhibits. The markets are a great place to stock up on 100% organic food for the week ahead or to find a unique gift. Check here for dates and maps to the markets.

Beaches and Outdoor Pools
This weekend lifeguards go on duty at Vancouver’s beaches and outdoor pools. Vancouver has over 18km of public beaches and five outdoor pools. Two of the pools and most of the beaches are located on the seawall. Rent a bike to go exploring and find the perfect spot to soak up the sun before you take a dip.
