Vancouver’s Celebration of Light

27 July 2012 774 views No Comment

Vancouver’s annual fireworks competition will soon light up the summer nights over English Bay. This year the countries competing are Vietnam, Brazil, and Italy—all first time contenders. The show begins at 10:00pm sharp every evening and last for 25 minutes. The dates are as follows:

  • Vietnam: July 28th
  • Brazil: August 1st
  • Italy: August 4th

The festival has been taking place in Vancouver since 1990 and draws the world’s best firework designers and pyrotechnicians. These dazzling displays also draw huge crowds as flocks of people from near and far come to see the display. This year’s crowd estimate is somewhere around 1.4 million spectators.

There will be plenty of pre-festival fun with musicians playing to the gathering fireworks crowds in the early afternoon as people begin to lay their claims on the best fireworks viewing spots.

Tickets can be bought for a special seating area in the bleachers. However, if you are staying in one of our south or west facing suites you may be lucky enough to catch the show fireworks from your windows or balcony.

Find maps, viewing areas, road closures and pre-show entertainment line ups on the Celebration of Lights website.
